If your 2007-2008 Toyota Tundra experiences a "No Start" condition with a check engine (MIL) light on and codes B2799 and/or B2780, B2784, B2796, B2797, B279A, you will want to check out TSB's 0078-09 and 0220-08.

Some customers may experience a crank and “No start” condition accompanied by immobilizer DTC B2799 and/or B2780, B2784, B2796, B2797, B279A. A production change has been made to the Transponder key ECU.

The most common item seen is the Immobilizer ECU itself located on the backside of the A/C Evaporator housing box just against the firewall. The part number is 89780-0C011 and the dash will have to be pulled out in order to access it. Here are a few pics of the area where the ECU is located...

The second TSB 0220-08 is less common and has to do with water intrusion into the harness.

Some 2007 – 2008 model year Tundra vehicles may exhibit a “no start” condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2799 caused by water intrusion into the engine room wire harness. Follow the procedures in the bulletin to inspect and replace the engine room wire harness as necessary to address customer concerns.
