The 2000-2003 Tundra's had a notoriety among their owners of having a bad front brake vibration. No matter how many times the rotors were turned and the pads replaced, the vibration would inevitably come back. In late 2002 Toyota finally issued a fix in the form of a TSB BR002-04. The fix was to install a bigger brake caliper. This meant that the backing plate had to also be replaced (per the TSB Instructions) in order to accommodate the larger caliper. This also meant that the hub and bearing would have to be replaced in order to install the larger backing plate. Many techs and Owners would simply modify the old backing plate and install the larger calipers which saved time and money.
