I will try and show you how I replaced the starter on my 2009 Toyota Tundra (Sequoia) 5.7L 3UR-FE engine. There are two videos below this "how to" so you can see the steps...

The first thing you will want to do is disconnect the negative battery connection. If you don't do this, you may short circuit the main fuse and cause a big headache.....

You will then want to remove the oil dipstick and tube. It is held in by one 10mm bolt...

You will then want to raise the vehicle and remove the passenger side front wheel. There are two flaps in the wheel well that you can remove the plastic pins so you can see and work better through the side...

Now go underneath the truck on the passenger side and disconnect the two oxygen sensors. Then remove the three 14mm nuts and two 14mm bolts for the catalytic converter removal....

You can then twist the converter and pull it out toward the rear...

Now you will want to remove the first (large) heat shield. It is held in by three 10mm bolts...

Now pull it out the rear also....

The next thing I did was remove the two 10mm nuts and eight 12mm nuts holding the exhaust manifold to the head...

You should pull it out the rear also (notice a theme here... )

Ok, lets remove the smaller heat shield that is held in by three 10mm bolts....

And now we can see the starter....

Next, open the protective flap and disconnect the 12mm nut then disconnect the starter wire connector....

Now remove the two 14mm bolts holding the starter in. The top bolt might not come all the way out due to a line in the way but it will be enough to remove the starter....

Now remove the starter and then reverse the order to install the new one... On a side note, when you remove the starter, there is a plastic piece that may move or fall out... This is what it looks like and where it goes....
